Mariah is a cat in need of a hero! She was brought to PWP with a litter of very young kittens. Even though she was scared to death of people, she was a great mommy and raised her kids big and strong. She has waited and watched as each of her little ones found new families to take over their care for the rest of their lives. Mariah was left. A scared, adult, black cat is typically not the first choice of potential adopters visiting the shelter. The shelter's director moved Mariah to her office so she could at least escape cage life. This is where Mariah started to blossom. At first she would hide under a desk or behind a bookcase, but would PURRRR when you entered the office to work. Then she started rubbing the director's legs as she worked, but would scurry if you even looked down at her. NOW Mariah will let us PET her.. and ENJOYS it! She likes to be talked to and will plop down beside us and kneed the air happily! As happy as Mariah is when people enter the office, we don't get to spend much time there. She has worked hard to overcome her fears and has made a lot of progress. She deserves the chance to enjoy people of her own! She likes other cats and could probably grow to love a quiet gentle dog. The truth is that Mariah is safe at PWP and pretty happy in the office because she doesn't know that anything better exists. But we know! So we ask for a hero, someone that can walk past all the cute little kittens and give Mariah what she needs to be the happiest cat in the world!

Adoption fee of only $50 includes her spay, vaccines, deworming, and testing negative for Felv/fiv.
