Mitchell Domestic Short Hair & Tiger Mix Albany, NY

Mitchell is a big, sweet, lovebug! He came to Whiskers when a kind person, who was caring for him outside , was not able to keep him. Mitchell wasn’t in the best shape when he came to us: he was very thin, had some ear issues from a hematoma (which is caused by mites or fleas, and is why he has that cute curled over ear!), and just didn’t feel very well. But now, he’s doing just fine! Mitchell is very loving, and wants lots of petting and attention, and wants to play! We think he was born in 2010, and he would enjoy a nice, warm home where he could get back some of the love he is so ready to give! Our volunteers adore this big man.:-)

Mitchell, who tested positive for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), lives in our Whiskers FIV suite with other kitties infected with this virus. However, FIV is not in any way a death sentence: many kitties with FIV live as long and as healthfully as other cats without the virus as long as they receive good nutrition and good medical care, which is what any cat should receive anyway! FIV is very difficult to transmit between cats, and poses no health risk to humans. It is spread primarily among cats through deep, penetrating bite wounds. Mitchell is not aggressive, at all, and could live happily as an only cat, with other FIV positive kitties, or with other non-aggressive friends who do not have the virus.
