Hi! I’m Kissy, a sprightly 10-pound, 5-6 year-old female IG mix.
I get along well with other dogs—in my foster home, I’ve had up to eight 4-legged visitors at one time, and I’ve done pretty well. I don’t have much of an opportunity to visit with children, but I’m pretty sturdy and happy so I’ll do well with older children (say, 8 years-old and older). I’d make a lively addition to a household with dogs, or just humans. I was alone and sad for so long, now I’m just happy to have a safe, loving place to live. If there are squeaky toys to play with, all the better! I love squeaky toys!
I’m so happy and thankful for the new life I’ve been given since my rescue. Dumped by the side of the road, I was a mess when I entered rescue. I was dealing with serious medical issues and needed a lot of help. Now I’m healthier, and have a beautiful fawn coat that shows it.
I have a chronic kidney condition that is serious but managed well with a kidney diet and medication. The medication is already being gradually dropped since I’m doing so well with the special diet. I’m reacting well to treatment for a form of anemia that I’m likely to continue to deal with long term. And, I’ve had a seizure, so we should keep an eye on that. I feel so much better now that I have TLC in my life, I don’t let anything drag me down. I love my life!
It’s been a long road, and I’m still an independent, street-savvy girl, and I show my love in my own special ways. I prefer not to be picked up…I’ll follow you around, keep you company, and love to be in the same room with you—just in case you need me—but I’m not a “Velcro” dog as some iggies can be. Now, that I’m out of my shell and enjoying life, I’m curious and confident.
I walk wonderfully well on a lead, I know my name and always come when called, I’m used to eating in my crate, I know my basic commands, and how to use the doggy door to go outside. I’m ready to share my zest for life with you in a permanent home.
