Meet Cricket

Cricket is a prancer.  She rears back her head and thrusts her front feet out in front of her and prances like an Arabian horse.  Cricket is a wagger.  She can wag her entire body and do the cha-cha around me in circles when I have done something to delight her (for example, saying her name in a high happy voice).  Cricket is a snuggler.  She likes to sit with us on the couch and lean in close and whisper things into my ear.  She loves to play with balls and toys and can entertain herself for what seems like hours, throwing her ball in the air and then pouncing on it and throwing it again.  She loves other dogs and is happy to romp and wrestle.  She is a little bit afraid of cats, especially if they have a lot of attitude, and will look at them with big eyes and give a little shiver before speeding by them.  Cricket is a survivor.  When we found her, she was on the verge of starvation and appeared out of seemingly nowhere.  My husband was getting a gate when she crept up and licked him on the hand and then sat beside him, full of hope.  She is quite simply a little pumpkin of a dog, very charming, very happy, full of confidence (except with cats), and eager to share her heart.  She is a about 10-12 months old, she weighs 30 lbs, and she is fully crate-trained.  She does appear to have some whippet, she might have some German Shepherd because of her coloring, and I wouldn't be surprised if she has some chihuahua because of the way she prances.  She is mostly housetrained but it is primarily a matter of letting her outdoors frequently.  She does know how to sit and we are working on her not jumping up.  Her main problem is the leash.  When I put a leash on her, she trembles and then slowly collapses into a catatonic state on the floor.  She might not be the best companion for someone who wants a jogging buddy although given sufficient training and reward, she should be able to eventually overcome her fear.  If you are interested in our Cricket, please email Michele at mehelfrich@pwhome.com.  Home check and vet check required.  Fenced yard a must.  No children under five please.
