Hi, my name is Carnation!

I am a five week old boxer/pit bull terrier mix (as of August 15th) and was born on July 7th. I am one of six males in a litter of nine puppies. My mom Flower is also listed with PAWS, and we were all rescued in Georgia from a high kill shelter when our mom was pregnant. I am very playful and vocal, but calm right down if you pick me up. I also love to get belly rubs!

I am fostered in New England and will be microchipped, had my first round of puppy vaccines and will be ready to go to my new home on September 21st. Please consider adding me to your family, you will not be disappointed!

All puppies are current on vaccinations and will remain so while in foster care; he/she is NOT spayed/neutered as yet and an adopter will be required to execute a spay contract agreeing that the dog will be spayed/neutered by the age of 6 months (upon the advice of our veterinarian, we do not perform or require for our dogs pediatric spay/neuter surgeries). There are various program available to adopters to assist with spay expense including $60.00 reimbursement from Paws New England when surgery is complete and proof provided.

Donation: $450.00 (includes $140.00 transport fee paid directly to USDA approved transport company)

Paws New England as recently joined VCA Animal Hospitals in a program providing new adopters with a certificate for an initial health exam at a VCA Hospital and treatment of certain conditions free of charges for the first 5 days. This is a great program and PAWS is thrilled to be participating in for our adopter

QUARANTINE (RI & MASSACHUSETTS)
Due to new regulations put forth, as of 6/1/2012, all dogs traveling from TN, MO, or GA [or other non-contiguous states] with a final home in Rhode Island or Massachusetts will be quarantined for a period of 5 days; dogs will arrive on Saturday, spend 5 days in quarantine, be examined by veterinarian, and released to adopters on the following Friday/Saturday. A health certificate fee of $25.00 will be required at the time of dog pickup.

The adoption donation covers all pre-adoption vet costs (general health exam, vaccinations, heartworm testing/treatment when necessary)

PAWS of New England is not shelter but a rescue and thus is not funded by any city or state organization - we rely solely on the donations of our adopters to help defray the costs associated with saving these precious lives.

We are often asked, ""Why would you charge ""so much"" for a rescue pet? Why not just place it in a good home?" ..... The answer is because we need adopters who are willing to support ALL rescue pets, not just the dog they adopt. A young, healthy dog might cost us $150-400 in discounted vet care, and many people will want to adopt it; an older dog with health issues can easily cost $500-1500 in veterinary expenses, and it may require months of foster care for rehabilitation yet we can only ask a minimal adoption fee, and it may be a long time until anyone comes forward to adopt him/her. Fees from the younger, more adoptable dogs help offset the cost of caring for the others.
