And now a few words from me: Hello, My name is Sam. I am Yorkie mix and a bundle of fun. We are not sure what my other half is... some say Doxie, Cairn Terrier, Westie or Jack Rusell. It does not really matter – I very smart, handsome and active. My favorite game is to run, catch a ball and bring it back to a child for more. I am very polite… even though I am sooooo excited I will sit when asked and wait until you throw the ball again. I have been in foster care since last summer when I was surrendered to the Montreal SPCA. I had a quiet foster home with smaller and older dogs. I just moved to a new foster home and I am now ready to take on the world! My foster mom says I walk very well on leash. I can get scared by lots of traffic and big trucks. Who knew there were so many cars! I am taking on the challenge of walking nicely on busy roads with my foster sister dog Lilly and foster Mom. I am working really hard and being very brave. My foster mom says I will have it down in no time! I also forgot some dogs are bigger than me! I weigh 18 lbs and am used to being the biggest in my pack! Big dogs are kind of scary until you get to know them. I love to chase them at the dog park because they can run really fast! I am going catch up to them on of these days! I am very polite inside the house. I have an inside voice and an outside voice, are you impressed? I like my cozy crate to sleep in at night and will wait patiently for you to wake up in the morning and get ready. Once I am out of my crate the fun begins! Did I mention I love dog toys? Chew toys, bones, balls, squeaky toys… All of them are my favorite! I am ready for my furever home!
And now a few words from my foster mom:
Sam is a wonderful Yorkie mix. We are not sure of the mix, however he is as handsome as a button and looks like a big Yorkie. Sam is settling in nicely to our home and we adore him. He is housetrained and quiet for the most part. He knows his basic commands, ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘off’, ‘come’ and of course ‘treat’. Every once in awhile he will be eager for some playtime. While working, I will often settle Sam down with a puzzle toy with a treat in the middle or a good bone to chew on. This activity keeps him busy and quiet. Other times, we will go out in our backyard and play fetch. Sam does not have a lot of experience walking on a leash and the outside world. It’s very new to him. He is keen to take on the challenge and we are out in the neighborhood a lot each day. He often looks to our family dog, Lilly for reassurance. Having another dog in the household with Sam would be very beneficial. Sam is great with dogs his size or smaller. Sam is nervous of big dogs and will bark upon their approach. We are actively working with him and spending time everyday with big dogs. Once, introduced he is the life of the party. We walk each day to and from school. Sam is getting used to the sound of children and lots of activity. He is very gentle and patient with young children. Sam is a wonderful dog and would make a great addition to any family.
