Freddie Black Labrador Retriever Mix Paris, KY

Meet Freddie! He is a Labrador Retriever mix and is 1 yr old (as of 12/7). He is a great looking dog and has a thinner build than most Labs. He has a shiny black coat that has some hints of chocolate. When Freddie was a puppy, he was very neglected and was left outside in a kennel with a neighbor mostly feeding him. Because of this bad early start to his life, he came to us shy and scared. He has been in a foster home and is now a new dog who has learned to trust and love. He is social now and gladly seeks out attention with the people he knows. He likes to play and is lots of fun. He easily and lovingly interacts with everyone in his foster family. He can still be started by sudden movements and changes can make him wary, but he quickly adjusts now. He is still shy with new people and new things, but has the foundation now to adjust better and faster. He is not completely house trained...he comes in the house off and on during the day when his foster family is home, and in the evening, but stays out (garage and fenced yard on a farm) most of the day. He is timid on the leash as he may have had a bad experience, but he is learning and showing progress. He knows some basic commands and is well-mannered in the house as long as he is taken out regularly to use the bathroom. He is very good with the other dogs and the cats. He is pretty high energy and still chews a lot, so needs close supervision in the house and proper chew toys. Freddie is super sweet, loving and loyal once he gets to know you. He just needs a home where you can be patient with him and give him time to adjust. Once that happens, you will have a devoted companion.Please note: This wonderful dog cannot go to his/her new home until the adoption application is completed and approved and the dog has been spayed/neutered.
