Meet Shelley - VIDEOS
Shelley is a gentle, calm little cat who lost her first home at the age of seven months when it may just have been too active for her. Reading between the lines of her surrender questionnaire, she seemed to have trouble coping with the children. She was then adopted into an adult home where she lived happily for the next six years. Then she lost that home when her people moved. She was always a well-behaved little cat in that home. She's a tender-hearted little soul who was described as shy, playful and active. When she was new at Katie's Place, she felt safest inside her nest, but if we reached in to pet her, she was delighted and reached into our touch eagerly, hungry for the affection. When we gently pulled her out of her nest for a short cuddle, she hurried back inside, yet never once did she unsheathe her claws or utter a sound of protest. She was completely gentle. When she was released from her new-cat cage into a communal room, she proved to be a quiet, calm little resident who never makes any kind of trouble. She never pesters us. Yet if we visit with her, she's delighted. This endearing little cat with the plush, soft coat will be a joy to someone in a reasonably quiet home.
Shelley settled into her communal room serenely enough -- she's serene by nature! Yet she doesn't seem to be happy. She would no doubt rather live where she's not surrounded by many other cats. She stays out of everyone's way but she seems resigned rather than contented. No doubt she's lonely for a bond with a human family like she once enjoyed. She's a tenderhearted but undemanding little soul who deserves more than life has given her.
Shelley was born around the middle of 2002.
