Our Mission
At 2nd Chance to Shine, our mission is to provide rescue dogs throughout the Midwest with the training, rehabilitation, and compassion they need to become confident, adoptable companions. Through structured manners training, socialization, and a safe, supportive environment, we help dogs overcome past challenges, build trust with humans, and learn how to thrive in a home setting.
We are committed to giving every dog in our care the time, resources, and individualized attention they deserve—empowering them with the skills, confidence, and joy needed to truly shine in their forever homes.
Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible match between each dog and their future family. Interested adopters begin by completing a pre-application, which helps us understand their lifestyle, experience, and what they’re looking for in a dog. From there, we schedule a phone interview to discuss expectations, answer questions, and ensure a good fit. Approved applicants are then invited to a meet-and-greet with the dog, allowing both the adopter and the dog to interact in a comfortable setting. If all goes well, we move forward with finalizing the adoption, prioritizing safe, loving, and lasting placements.
