Our main priority is to ensure we place the dogs in loving, responsible homes, so before filling out an application, be advised that we do verify the following:
1. Background checks on every adult in the home
2. Vet reference checks - Please call your vet ahead of time and give authorization for Love And Puppy Paws Dog Rescue to contact them for a reference. If your vet requires your authorization and you have not given them permission, we will email you and move onto the next applicant as to not hold up the process for others.
All current pets in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccines, current on heartworm prevention. If you cannot afford proper vetting and monthly heartworm prevention, please do not submit an application.Â
3. We call personal references, so if you fail to provide names and contact phone numbers, your application is automatically denied.
(Should any vet references or personal references not respond back or are unable to verify information, your application will be denied).Â
4. A fenced yard is generally the requirement. We do consider each dog and the lifestyle of the adopters in the decision process. We understand that not everyone has a fenced in yard, which that is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on what is best for the dog that you applied for. *Applications submitted where electric fences are used will be denied automatically. Electric fences are not approved and no exceptions will be made.*
5. Adoptions do require a virtual home check to ensure your home environment is safe for the dog.​
