Roxy's Story

*If you are interested in adopting Roxy, please fill out an application at: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application

Roxy is a sweet, spunky 3-4 month old shepherd / Great Pyrenees mix pup that weighs 25 lbs. She is estimated to be around 80-85 lbs when she is fully grown. Roxy is best described as incredibly sweet, affectionate, and playful. She is a fun-loving companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She is the kind of puppy who brings joy and laughter to the home, and she approaches every day with excitement, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Roxy absolutely loves being around people and is always thrilled to meet someone new. Whether its family, friends, or complete strangers, she greets everyone with a wagging tail and a big smile on her face. She is equally excited to see other dogs and animals and is eager to make new friends wherever she goes. Her friendly and social nature makes her the perfect pup for an active family enjoys having their fur-baby involved in their everyday life. Roxy is exceptionally intelligent and learns quickly. She is very observant, curious, and confident, and is eager to engage in training activities. She knows "sit", "down", "shake" and "roll over" already. Her curiosity is endless, and she is fascinated by new sights, sounds, and experiences. Whether its a blowing leaf, a passing squirrel, or simply discovering a new neighborhood street with more neighbors to meet, Roxy approaches life with wonder and excitement. Her happy-go-lucky attitude, intelligence, and affectionate personality make her a joy to be around every day. She would thrive with a family that is excited to continue her puppy training, provide opportunities for exercise and exploration, and include her all the fun family activities. Roxy is ready to bring endless smiles, laughter, and unconditional love to her forever home.

Roxy is medium energy, so she has the perfect balance of playful puppy energy and loving affection. Her energy level will likely increase as she gets older and she will need multiple energy burning activities per day. She enjoys running, playing, and exploring, but she also loves spending time with her people and soaking up all the cuddles she can get. She has a naturally confident and curious temperament, making her the perfect future adventure buddy for a family who wants a dog they can take on fun outings hiking, exploring nature, and going on beach vacations. One of Roxys favorite things in the world is being outdoors. She loves exploring the yard, investigating new scents, and watching anything that moves. She also enjoys activities that give her a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that she can work on to win the main prize, some yummy dog treats, are a necessity in her forever home. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and shed be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that she is about to start teething. Like any young puppy, Roxy is still going through her puppy-biting phase and is learning appropriate manners as she grows. She would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training, consistency, and plenty of chew toys to help guide her through this normal stage of development.

Roxy is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She loves other dogs and wants to play with every dog she encounters. She absolutely loves canine companionship and is always ready to play, wrestle, and make new friends. Her playful, friendly demeanor would make her a wonderful addition to a home with another playful dog, though she would also thrive as the center of attention in a home where she gets plenty of love and interaction. If she is the only dog in the home, she would benefit from having frequent play dates with doggy friends or go to doggy day care a couple times a week so she continues having positive interactions with other dogs as she grows up. She would probably be too much for a slower, senior dog who doesn't want to play or interact with a goofy puppy. Roxy would do well with kids of all ages and would love to have kids in the home that she can play fetch and cuddle with. Because she is a giant puppy who has no clue of her large size, she would do best with older children who are more stable on their feet as she would likely knock over a wobbly toddler. She is very loving, playful, and sweet, so the more people to give her affection and play time, the better. She is starting to teeth, so her humans will need to keep a watchful eye on her to make sure she doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around. Because of her young age and how gentle she is, she would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home with slow introductions. Since she is a silly, playful puppy, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play with them.

Roxy is kennel trained and potty trained, and has started on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and even hangs out in her kennel with the door open to nap throughout the day. When she gets older, she would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She loves to go on outings in her neighborhood, but is still working on not getting excited and distracted when she sees people and other dogs. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and will alert her foster family she needs to go outside by sitting at the back door. It is recommended to use a doggy door bell by the back door to help her learn how to notify you when she needs to go outside. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours initially until she gets on a good routine in a new environment, but she picks up quickly on new schedules and won't take long to adjust. She would love to have a family that is home more often than not because she loves being with her humans, so someone who works a hybrid schedule or works from home is ideal. But she would do well with a dog walker mid-day or going to doggy day care if her humans work out of the home.

Roxy's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her familys daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in. Because she will be a larger dog as an adult and higher energy level that requires frequent exercise and mental stimulation, she would not do well in an apartment setting. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and some kids to cuddle and play with. She's also the type of dog that can be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures going on hikes or going to Sniff Spots for enrichment, playtime and exercise. She would love if her human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but would adjust to having mid-day walks and potty breaks if you do work out of the home. If she is the only dog, she would love to go to doggy day care a few days a week so she can burn energy and play with her doggy friends. Roxy's ideal family would be fun, adventurous, and enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time.

Roxy is in a foster home in Central Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations

TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL bio describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets.

The cost to adopt is $850, which includes $400 adoption fee, a $250 transport fee, and a $200 REFUNDABLE spay deposit. FurEver United Rescue's Adoption Policy
https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-process Our main priority is to ensure we place the dogs in loving, responsible homes, so before filling out an application, be advised that we do verify the following: 1. Background checks on every adult in the home 2. Vet reference checks - Please call your vet ahead of time and give authorization for Love And Puppy Paws Dog Rescue to contact them for a reference. If your vet requires your authorization and you have not given them permission, we will email you and move onto the next applicant as to not hold up the process for others. All current pets in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccines, current on heartworm prevention. If you cannot afford proper vetting and monthly heartworm prevention, please do not submit an application. 3. We call personal references, so if you fail to provide names and contact phone numbers, your application is automatically denied. (Should any vet references or personal references not respond back or are unable to verify information, your application will be denied). 4. A fenced yard is generally the requirement. We do consider each dog and the lifestyle of the adopters in the decision process. We understand that not everyone has a fenced in yard, which that is considered on a case-by-case basis depending on what is best for the dog that you applied for. *Applications submitted where electric fences are used will be denied automatically. Electric fences are not approved and no exceptions will be made.* 5. Adoptions do require a virtual home check to ensure your home environment is safe for the dog.
