HEARTT Animal Refuge

HEARTT Animal Refuge was founded in 2007 by Sylvia Johanning, who had a passion for rescue since she was a child. She had worked in several shelters and decided she wanted to make a difference in Sharonville. She secured funds for the Sharonville location and began renovations to make the building animal friendly. Sylvia was a dynamic individual who drew people together and soon she had a core group of volunteers who helped her achieve her vision, many of whom are still with the shelter today. Our goal is to help abandoned, abused, and homeless animals and provide a temporary landing place until they find their forever homes. Realizing the need for more shelter space, HEARTT added a second location on the west side of Cincinnati and volunteers are in the process of converting this new location into a pet friendly environment.
