Our Mission
Happy Life Animal Rescue (HLAR) is a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Pawling, New York, proudly serving the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs and cats who have been victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or shelter overcrowding.
With a newly acquired rescue facility and a strong foster network, we’re able to give animals the second chance they deserve. Fostering remains at the heart of what we do—because nothing heals quite like a loving home.
Want to help save lives? Become a foster! Apply today at:

Adoption Policy
? Adoption Policies — Happy Life Animal Rescue (Pawling, NY)
1. Adoption Registration
• Fill out our online dog or cat registration form before visiting. This helps speed things up when you’re ready to adopt.
• Sending in a registration doesn’t reserve a specific pet—it just qualifies you to meet and adopt available animals.
2. Visit & Meet Your Match
• Walk-ins are welcome during open hours at our adoption center:
• Tues–Thurs: 11?AM–1?PM & 5:30–7?PM
• Fri: 11?AM–1?PM
• Sun (if no event): 11?AM–1?PM
• You can also meet pets at weekend events at local pet stores—check our schedule on our website!
• Upon arrival, you’ll meet with an Adoption Counselor to chat about your lifestyle, preferences, and what type of fur-buddy might be a good fit.
3 Same-Day Adoptions
• Many animals are ready to go home the same day you meet them! As long as you’re approved and a match is made, you can adopt on the spot.
4. Adoption Fees
• Dogs: $200–$750, which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccines
• Cats: $225, covering spay/neuter, FIV testing, and vaccinations
• Fees are non-refundable—all proceeds go back into our rescue to save more lives.
5. Requirements & Home Prep
• You must be 18+ to adopt.
• Renters: please confirm pet policies with your landlord (breeds, sizes, etc.).
• Prepare for your new pet’s future: adoption includes responsibility for time, training, veterinary costs, and life changes like moving.
6. Behavioral Expectations
• We conduct temperament evaluations for each animal in foster or prior homes.
• We don’t adopt out animals with:
• A damaging bite history toward humans or other dogs
• Unpredictable aggression or lack of bite inhibition
• Past that cannot be safely managed
