Our Mission
Lucky Cat Rescue NYC is dedicated to rescuing abandoned, stray, and at-risk cats throughout the Bronx and Upper Manhattan. Our mission is to provide compassionate care, medical treatment, and safe foster homes while preparing each cat for a loving, permanent family. We are committed to reducing the homeless cat population through rescue, spay/neuter, community partnerships, and responsible adoption practices. By educating our community and advocating for feline welfare, we strive to give every cat the opportunity to live a healthy, safe, and loved life.
Adoption Policy
Our goal is to place every cat in a safe, loving, and permanent home. Prospective adopters complete an adoption application, participate in an interview, provide two to three references, and complete a virtual home visit. We review each application to ensure the cat is a good match for the adopter’s home, lifestyle, and experience. Cats are required to be kept indoors and receive appropriate veterinary care. We have a strict two-cat policy for kittens under six months of age: they must either be adopted with another kitten or be placed in a home that already has a compatible cat. This policy helps ensure young kittens have appropriate socialization, companionship, and play. Kittens who are not yet large enough to be spayed or neutered are adopted under an agreement requiring the procedure to be completed when they reach the appropriate age and weight, with proof provided if the adopter uses their own veterinarian.
