Artemis Animal Rescue

Artemis Animal Rescue is a foster-based rescue serving Central New Jersey - specifically Highland Park, New Brunswick, Edison, Piscataway, and East Brunswick. We believe in a new kind of rescue work - one that values community, education, and is fundamentally restorative. Our fundamental principles are: Cat problems are people problems: When people hurt, animals hurt - and vice versa. We take a community-oriented approach to animal welfare so we can support human beings as well as cats. Anyone can do what we do: At one point in time, every person at Artemis was a nervous wreck who, despite knowing nothing, was compelled to help an animal in need. We learned what we know by doing online research, talking to other rescuers, and of course, making lots of mistakes. If we could learn, then you can too - and we’d love to help. Healthy cats make a healthier world: Making sure that community cats are vaccinated and fixed is a crucial way to prevent illness for humans and other animals, keep neighborhoods clean, and make life better for the people who share their streets with cats.
