Our Mission

A little bit about us... First off, we are NOT a shelter and you WILL NOT find same-day adoptions here. We are NOT your typical rescue. We are a small, but mighty, volunteer-run foster-based rescue WITHOUT a facility. Our dogs are scattered in loving foster homes across Southeast Louisiana area getting the love and medical attention they need. Generally, the dogs we come by are feral, stray, special needs and/or in need of socialization and medical attention. We work with a team of veterinarians, veterinary specialists, dog behavioralists, trainers and more to help our rescue pets get what they need to become happy, healthy and able to live our their best lives with their forever family. Once in our care, we fully vaccinate them (Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Adenovirus Type 1, Adenovirus Type 2, Hepatitus and 4 strains of Leptospirosis), test for heartworms, spay/neuter, microchip and address any other existing issues/ailments. We also fully fund heart worm treatment, should the dog test positive (90% of our rescues do), and administer heart worm preventative flea prevention. We average a bill of about $1000, in veterinary care alone, per dog. Adoption fees range from $250-$550 depending on age, health, breed of the dog and other variables. We aim for quality over quantity. We want our dog’s next home to be their FUREVER home. Our applications are admittedly thorough! They are a 3-step process: Written Application, Home-Check and Meet-and-Greet/Home Trial Visit. Applicants MUST be over the age of 21 and NOT currently a first-time college student. Potential Adopters are approved based on each individual rescue’s specific needs (ie. temperament, energy level, behavioral issues, special needs). Please read below for a detailed explanation of our adoption process. *Please be patient* Thanks for your time and wanting to give our rescue a new leash on life! <3

Adoption Policy

Our adoptions are a 3-step PROCESS and TAKE TIME. *You WILL NOT find same-day adoptions here* Applicants must be 21 years of age and not currently a first-time student. Our dogs are scattered in loving foster homes across the Southeast Louisiana area getting the care and socialization they need. We ONLY reach out to our Foster Families to arrange a meet and greet in Step 3 of the application process - and we strive to do this only once per pet. Step 1: Potential Adopter completes and submits a written application - available here on Petfinder and also available on our website. Direct link here (cut/paste): trampledroserescue.com/adopt We process applications in the order they were received, but this DOES NOT mean the early bird gets the worm - we select Adopters who are best suited for that particular animal's temperament, energy level, medical needs, etc. After the application is submitted, we will verify the Potential Adopter's home ownership or speak with their landlord to ensure the pet they're applying for is allowed. We will call any and all vet references to make sure they are (or were with past pets) up to date on vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention and are an all around stellar pet parent. We'll then call the Potential Adopter for a phone interview and tell them our personal experience with the pet of interest and answer any questions, comments or concerns. Step 2: If (and ONLY if) Step 1 goes swimmingly, we will schedule a day and time for one of our Team Members to visit the Potential Adopter's residence and make certain it's a good fit for the pet applied for. Some pets will require VERY securely fenced yards or other provisions and we hope to address all of those concerns as we physically see them, BEFORE any tragedies can occur. We also like to meet family members (including current pets!) and partners and make sure EVERYONE is on board with the new addition. Seeing how the Potential Adopter cares for their current pets gives us a great
