Adoption Policy
Applicants must fill out the application completely to be processed. We do landlord, property ownership and vet checks. If it's a dog or cat with special needs we will do a home visit to make sure we set them up for success.
We are located inside of Jefferson Feed on Jefferson Hwy/Central Avenue. You can stop by any time the store is open to see the adoptable pets. If a staff member that can handle our animals is here, they can put them in a playroom for you.
Sometimes later in the day, there are no JSPCA staff here and they can’t take them out. So you might want to call beforehand just in case and ask if a staff member that can handle the animals will be here till whatever time you would like to stop by. We have applications on the cart by the cats and the box you submit the applications in is on the cart.
We don't do same day adoptions because we want to make sure it's the right fit for our adoptable animal and for you. We don't want anyone to rush into an adoption of an animal because it is a lifetime commitment. We want to find forever homes for our animals that will always put them as a priority when making decisions about life and moving, etc.
An inquiry/introduction on Petfinder is NOT an application.
Feline Adoption Fees:
All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, FeLV/FIV/HW test and microchip.
Kittens
$100 under 1 Year of Age
$200-$300 “Highly Desirable Kittens” under 1 Year of Age
(Siamese, Russian Blue, Long Hair, Maine Coon. These kittens get the most applications, emails, visits, phone calls, etc. and it becomes more work to process and adopt them out.)
$25 Price Reduction Per Kitten for Pairs/Multiples of Kittens Under 1 Year of Age
Adults
$75 Over 1 Year of Age
$120 Pair of Adults Over 1 Year of Age
All applications are subject to approval. Some of our felines are bonded pairs and we want them to go together. Everything is decided on a case-by-case basis, by our team, volunteers and fosters. We always want to put our cats’ best interests above anything else.
Dog Adoption Fees:
All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, HW test and microchip.
$100 - Large Dogs (over 40lbs)
$150 - Small Dogs (Under 40lbs)
$100 - Senior Dogs (10 years and older)
Small Animal Adoption Fees:
All adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, up to date on RHDV2 vaccines (rabbits are vaccinated, GPs are not) and microchip.
$50 - Rabbits
$40 - Guinea Pigs
