Our Mission

If you are looking at a kitty on our site, please read the entire profile.

We are carefully open for adoptions by appointment. Please call us during open hours to schedule (noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. Sunday). Thank you for your continued interest in making rescue your first choice!

**The Humane Society of South Brevard is an independently-run, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. Our cats are free to roam inside our facility. We take in cats on a pre-arranged basis only. No paws are euthanized unless there is a medical issue affecting their quality of life. As cats are adopted and space becomes available, we take in more if we are able.

All adoptions are first come, first served. We have provided this service since 1978.

We can’t guarantee that specific kitties listed here will be available to adopt by the time you visit our shelter.

Petfinder is a great way to view some of our available paws but there are many more in-house than are included on this site.

If you have a question about a cat being dog or kid friendly, please come by in person and meet the kitty.

Adoption Policy

ADOPTING A FRIEND
The adoption fee is $75.00. This includes feline leukemia and FIV tests, microchip, spaying or neutering, rabies and feline distemper vaccines, and deworming.

We do not adopt to homes that declaw or let their cats outside.

FOSTER PROGRAM
We also have a foster program to help with our unadoptable cats, and of course you can come and visit by appointment.

This helps defray the cost of caring for these cats that will spend their lives with us. For more information please call 321-259-0601.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please visit our website at
https://southbrevardhumane.org

DONATIONS
Here are some of the items WE NEED MOST:
good topical flea medication like Revolution (Revolution is expensive-it is a multi purpose preventative and just a few doses from each donor would go a long way to helping our paws stay flea-free),
paper towels,
regular clean old bath towels,
cat and kitten pâté style canned food,
Purina One adult and kitten dry food,
and cat litter, scoopable.

We can also use
Simple Green Cleaner or Orange Plus.
Wild bird seed and fresh peanuts.

Remember everything is tax deductible.

If you shop with Amazon, use smile.Amazon.com and specify the HSSB to receive a donation with every purchase you make. Ditto if you use Paypal!

VOLUNTEERING
We are always in need of volunteers to help care for the cats and maintain our property.

COME VISIT US!
Although there are many good animal care groups in Brevard County, and we support any and all sincere efforts to care for unwanted, abused and neglected animals, we want you to know there are differences.

If you have any questions about our policies or mission, please contact us with your questions.

We do not receive federal, state or county funding. Although we have a small group of regular donors, this does not come close to covering what we spend on the animals.

Fortunately, some have left bequests to our Society and this has enabled us to continue our great work.

Please remember the animals when you prepare your will. Amy Van Fossen can plan your living will and trust and will donate 5% of your total costs to us! Contact Amy at 321-345-5945.

Please be specific in naming the Humane Society of South Brevard, Inc.

We depend solely on your kindness.
