Four Feet & a Heart Beat

At Four Feet and a Heartbeat (formerly CARES K9 Country Orphanage), our mission is to connect adoptable dogs—many at high risk of euthanasia—with the loving, permanent homes they deserve. As a no-kill dog rescue based in Lacombe, Alberta and serving Western Canada, we’ve spent over 30 years providing a safe haven for dogs in need. We partner with animal shelters, municipal organizations, and rescue networks to ensure that every dog we welcome receives veterinary care, compassion, and the time they need to find their forever family. By promoting adoption and placing spayed/neutered dogs into homes across the region, we help reduce the overpopulation of companion animals while offering an ethical, heart-forward alternative to buying from breeders. Because every dog deserves a second chance—and we’re here for them until they get it.
