Meet "Tj" Beau Cam Rock
Meet Beau, (also lovingly known as "Tj") our 20 year-old Standardbred gelding.
This handsome boy was born and bred to run as a gaited off-track pacer buggy racer in his heyday and claimed several names throughout his career: Excuse My Card, Cam's Card Shark, Another Excuse. On days when Tj is out to pasture you may sometimes be lucky enough to see that old racing spark as he flies out across the field with his new pals.
Despite his glory days being behind him, he carries on as a bright, kind, social and gentle boy. He is well-liked by his horse friends and well-loved by human caretakers. He is social, trailers well, stands nicely for the vets & farrier, and in our experience is pretty easy to trailer and seems bombproof!
He has never bit, bucked, or reared on anyone in our experience.
He is broke to ride and would do best with a high-level intermediate/advanced rider as he has a serious need for speed. He likes to be in the lead and has a smoother run the faster you let him go. He will need to have someone who can work with him on his groundwork as far as standing still for mounting and flexing.
Since he is such a social guy he would also do best in a home with another horse companion, either your own or an adopted buddy from our farm!
If you have questions or want to schedule a meeting please email our farm caretaker at farm@whatcomhumane.org.
