Zoe's Story

Zoe was left tied up and abandoned with her sister and then was brought to us. Zoe is observant, cautious, and deeply thoughtful about the world around her and she is the kind of dog whose trust you earn. Zoe is reserved and she watches everything before deciding it is safe to step forward.

Zoe is calm, quiet, and low key. She is not looking for a busy household or a lot of noise. A peaceful home without a lot of activity is best for her, and children should be over 10, calm, and respectful. Screaming, sudden movements, and high volume enthusiasm are not for this dog.

She does well with other dogs who have good manners and understand that personal space and Zoe appreciates polite canine company and will happily coexist with cats, who, thankfully, understand boundaries far better than most dogs. Zoe needs a securely fenced yard, (not chain link as she is capable of climbing), patient people who will let her move at her own pace, and a steady routine that helps her feel safe. She is not demanding or flashy. Her affection comes quietly, in moments, and once earned, it is deeply genuine.

Zoe is still figuring out who she is now that she is safe. She may take longer to settle than most, but for the right home, she will be an incredibly special companion.
