Meet Ziggy

Ziggy’s story reminds you what rescue is all about: providing comfort and love to our furry friends in need. One of over 40 dogs found in a hoarding case, Ziggy could certainly use some of that comfort and love.

Initially, Ziggy felt safe alone in his crate, gradually exploring and then wanting to be near his people. He loves running around the yard. He was confused about why his foster siblings chase the squirrels, but he has caught on to the fun! He is also good with other dogs (though a bit hesitant with larger dogs) and is happy to share his things, including food bowl and treats, clearly not exhibiting the possessive behavior typical of his breed.

This 10-pound Chihuahua mix is doing well with going to the bathroom outside and starting to ask to go out (he will use the pee-pad at night, but only if needed). Although he is friendly and will often give kisses to people (adults and kids), Ziggy is timid about being touched and picked up. This shy boy will burrow his head under a blanket or find his way back to his crate when he feels scared. He now loves being with his people most, even if it is snuggled under a blanket.

Coming from a bad situation, Ziggy needs a patient family willing to take it slow. In the beginning, This sweet, 4-year-old boy was cautious going into new rooms without his people. If left alone in a room, Ziggy will give a short bark or sad howl for you to come and get him, though his foster says he's quiet when she leaves the house. He is currently learning that new people are nice (he will bark if his foster talks to neighbors without him). He is also learning that squeaky toys are lots of fun.

Ziggy has so much potential to grow and gain confidence and has loads of love to give during that journey. If you can provide Ziggy with the comfort and training he deserves, consider filling out an application for this sweet boy.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.
