Zeke's Story
Zeke came to the Haven from a home where he was a beloved family member. Unfortunately, his family could no longer care for him, so this distinguished gentleman is looking for a new place to call home. The good news? Zeke already knows exactly how to be a wonderful companion and exactly how much he deserves to be adored.

Zeke is a sweet, loyal boywho loves the simple things in life: gentle walks, soft beds, tasty treats, and spending time with his people. He's basically housetrained (but benefits from potty pads and belly bands, just in case), rides well in the car, sleeps through the night, and has excellent house manners.

Zeke enjoys leisurely neighborhood walks and will happily trot along like a little pony when he's in a good mood. He loves rolling in the grass, has recently discovered toys, and enjoys a low-key game of fetch. He may bark at squirrels, birds, or other dogs on walks, but he walks nicely on leash and is easy to redirect. Zeke likes butt scratches and for his meals to be served on time. Zeke likes being your shadow and napping in a comfy bed.

Affection is definitely Zeke's love language. He adores cuddles, massages, and being near his favorite humans. While he's not much of a lap dog, and would prefer not to be picked up much, he's happiest in the same room as you and makes an excellent work-from-home companion. When he's feeling especially excited for attention, he'll do adorable "happy hops" and make little piglet-like grunts.

Zeke has lived successfully with cats and calm dogs and has done well with older children. He prefers a peaceful and quiet home with a predictable routine and would love a family that's around much of the time. A retiree or remote worker would be right up his alley. He would love to have a fenced yard so he can wander the grass at his own pace.

Like many senior dogs, Zeke has a few age-related quirks. He has a sensitive stomach, some hearing loss, and reduced vision at night. He's good about taking the medications that help him with his stomach issues. Despite that, he still enjoys his daily routines, navigates stairs just fine, and has plenty of love left to give.

If you're looking for a polite, cuddly, well-behaved shadow who will happily spend his golden years by your side, come meet Zeke.

Zeke is approx 14 years old and 20 lbs.
Fostered in Stoney Beach, MD.
Apply to adopt at mirishaven.org.
