Zay's Story

Meet Zay. Before you get too excited, Zay is somewhat of a strange case. She was found in the woods with her siblings and mom. Even after 2 years of being in rescue, she has yet to really warm up to human companionship. She’s like a giant cat that wants nothing to do with you. The good? She’s a 3 year old mastiff mix with the squishiest face ever (she’s also the master of RBF). After lots of confidence training, she has come out of her shell with dogs and absolutely loves to play with dogs, totally ignores cats and even enjoys taking treats and pets from humans when she has dog friends around. Zay is potty trained, crate trained and has been through several months of obedience training in addition to confidence building. She’ll come with training for her new family and the tools that have helped her “dog”. Zay REQUIRES at least one other dog living in home with her; we are not making exceptions as the trainer has advised us this is a necessity for her.
All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home.

We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application.

We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information.

We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

If you are interested in one of our fine furry friends, please fill out the adoption application at http://www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs, so please do not email us asking when/where you can meet an adoptable dog. We do not have a shelter location and we absolutely will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. A vet and landlord check (if applicable) is completed on every submitted application. Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a home visit with the adoptable dog. Please keep in mind that we are volunteer run and we all have lives, families and pets of our own, so it may take up to 2 weeks to hear back from us, depending upon the volume of applications we are handling, the ability to reach your vet and/or landlord, and whether the information you provided is accurate/complete. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can email us for more information.
