Zach's Story

URGENT- IMMEDIATE ADOPTER OR FOSTER NEEDED! This beautiful boy is ZACH and he's a 16 month old Australian Shepherd & Golden Retriever mix who is fully grown at 50 pounds. He's a joyful and silly boy and has an all around wonderful personality! He has a beautiful and fluffy golden & white coat so we wouldn't be surprised if he has some Golden Retriever mixed in there too. He's the sweetest pup and always happy which you can see in his photos! He's super friendly with everyone he meets and loves playing with other dogs too. He wants to be included in anything fun you're doing...dinner parties, card games, shopping at Petco? Count him in! He'd thrive with an active and loving family who are looking for a dog who has good energy and will be a part of their family. We think he'd love a doggie sibling but would be fine as a solo pup as long as he gets love and attention. He'd also love a fully fenced-in yard so he can play to his heart's desire. He's been neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations and is fully housebroken. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (LRHRescue@gmail.com or call 516-359-3509) to get more info on him. We think he's going to be very popular so we'd suggest submitting an Application for him soon if you're truly interested in him.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
