Yeti's Story

Meet Yeti
Breed: German Shepherd
Age: 2 years

Yeti is a sweet, beautiful young German Shepherd with a genuinely lovely nature. At just two years old, he is still very much learning about the world and has had relatively little life experience.

One of the things his future family should understand is that Yeti can be alert and with a big alarm bark. He has a tendency to bark when something catches his attention, particularly when he is unsure of a situation or is trying to make sense of something unfamiliar. This is not a reflection of an unfriendly personality—quite the opposite. Once he feels comfortable, his gentle and affectionate nature really shines through.

Because of his limited experience, Yeti will benefit from someone who is patient, calm, and willing to help him build confidence at his own pace. He will need continued exposure to new people, places, sounds, and experiences in a positive and supportive way.

He is a young dog with so much potential. With consistency, guidance, and plenty of positive experiences, Yeti can continue learning that the world is a safe and enjoyable place.

What makes Yeti special
Lovely, gentle nature

Young and eager to learn

Intelligent and observant

Has plenty of potential to grow in confidence

Still discovering the world and learning how to navigate new experiences

What Yeti needs
Yeti would do best with a family who understands that rescue dogs may need time to settle in and learn. His tendency to alarm bark will require patience and positive training rather than punishment. A predictable routine, clear guidance, and gradual introduction to new experiences will help him thrive.

Yeti isn't a finished product—and that's part of what makes him so special. He is a young German Shepherd who simply needs the opportunity to gain experience, confidence, and trust.

Yeti has a very good heart. He just needs someone willing to help him discover the world.

Four Feet & a Heart Beat's Adoption Policy
At Four Feet and a Heartbeat, our goal is to ensure every dog is placed in a safe, loving, and well-matched home. As a no-kill dog rescue based in Lacombe, Alberta and serving Western Canada, we take responsible placement seriously—without making the process overly complicated. Before reaching out, please review the following policies: - Adopters must be 18 years of age or older. - We adopt primarily to Alberta and neighboring provinces, though out-of-province adoptions may be possible if transportation is arranged and paid for by the adopter. - A pet-safe home is required. Some dogs may need 6-foot fencing based on observed behavior (e.g. climbing, prey drive, etc). - Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated (5-way, Rabies, and Kennel Cough). - We do not adopt dogs for breeding, resale, or as gifts. - Adoption fees vary by dog and help cover food, shelter medical care and ongoing support. We rely on self-selection to help identify the right matches and ask that prospective adopters review the adoption agreement and dog bios before contacting us.
