Yellow's Story

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application at medfieldshelter.com/adopt as the first step in our adoption process. The puppies are available now, so you must be prepared to take a puppy home if you are one of the lucky applicants. We can't respond to inquiries sent from Petfinder, so please fill out an application: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

Yellow is part of an accidental litter of eight puppies. We were told their father is a Golden Retriever, and their mom is a mixed breed. Our best guess is that she is a German Shepherd/Bull Terrier mix. Yellow is nine weeks old and already weighs 17 lbs. He and his siblings spent seven weeks in a wonderful foster home with a dog trainer who introduced them to many experiences, which have made them friendly, confident and well-adjusted puppies. They are good with other dogs and cats.

All the puppies in the litter were temperament-tested, which is a great tool we rely on to help us place them in homes that are the best fit for them. With this helpful information, we can match families with their perfect pups. They are all working hard on potty and crate training and are doing great, but need owners committed to frequent trips outside since puppies can only hold their bowels and bladders for short times at this age. Yellow is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and will return to the Shelter to be neutered when he is a bit older. Because he shows a tendency to guard his food, we will not place him in a home with children under 13.

When applying, please use "Lacey's puppies" in the field that asks for the name of the puppy you are applying for.The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

If a dog is listed on our website, it is still available for adoption; however, there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment.

Our dog adoption fee is $450 for dogs aged seven months to seven years old, and $250 for dogs aged eight years and older. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is treated for worms, ticks, and fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog in our care.

With few exceptions, dogs are happiest and well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
