My name is Xander, and I am 5 weeks old. I am not available for adoption yet because I am working on everything that I need to learn to be an amazing boy when I’m bigger, but I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself so we can get better acquainted with each other. I am a Catahoula Leopard, Australian Cattledog, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. Now, I want to tell you a little about my breed mix so that you have a better understanding of what kind of big dog I will be when I grow up so that you can make the best decision about me and not just pick me because I’m a cute puppy. All of my mixes are herding dog breeds. This means that I will have a natural tendency to want to herd groups of things. Does this mean people as well? Yep. I will have the sweetest and most gentle personality, but I will want to make sure that I am doing my job at keeping everyone that I love together. I will also be a bigger dog averaging around 60-80# when full grown in a couple of years. Now, I could be a bit smaller, but this is the average for my breed mix. I will be an active dog, so I will want someone that is going to want to go for walks, runs, or just be out exploring the world and finding new things. With a natural tendency to herd, it’s unknown how I will be with cats or small animals like that. There is the great potential that I will be just fine if socialized with them when I am very little, but I want to be honest about what things might look like when I’m a bigger so that you are fully prepared if you currently have a cat. I will be a very loyal dog and will be super affectionate with my people and want to be with them everywhere they are. I am working on being in a kennel so that I can be in there when you are away or if I just need some quiet time. I am learning to walk on a leash, go potty outside, and all the things that come with being a puppy, but these will need to be continued when I go to my forever home.
