Meet Xander

Xander has found his forever home with Donna M in Westwood!

Xander is a GREAT boy who is coming back to us because he’s too much for the resident dog. He plays too rough with him, and is bossy with toys and attention. He’ll do best as an only dog where he gets all the attention, but gets to visit other dogs often for play dates. Xander is a sweet, wonderful, playful dog, and it breaks the adopter’s hearts to have to return him. Please read all about him below. Approved adopters can set up a meet and greet with him.

Adoption coordinator Kathy

Meet Xander! He’s 1 yr old and 45 lbs. He was found as a stray in the south. He’s a typical energetic young dog, and will need an active home. He loves car rides, toys and playing with other dogs, although will do best as an only dog in the home. He has not been cat tested. He’s house trained as long as he gets frequent bathroom breaks. He is crate trained, but does not like his crate and will bark. He’s not a good fit for an apartment. He needs continued socialization with strangers and new dogs, but is doing well with meeting new people and dogs. He would likely do best with kids 12+. He’s very cuddly and likes to sleep against and on his people and needs a home where he’s allowed on furniture. He’d love a family who will include him in their activities. Great dog! Adoption fee $400.

Please complete an online APPLICATION if you wish to adopt. Forever Home Rescue New England is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a network of foster homes in the South and the New England area. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC SHELTER LOCATION. If you wish to meet our dogs, you must first be approved by going through our application and screening process. Forever Home Rescue suggests obedience training for all puppies and dogs. All dogs are up to date on their shots, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Vet fees, transport fee and New England quarantine fees ARE INCLUDED in each dog's adoption fee. Also, any dogs older than pups--even if they are not marked housetrained in their posting---usually housetrain within a day or two, because most are used to living outside in the south and will prefer to do their business outdoors. Our dogs and pups are best suited for families with children 5 yrs old and up. If you are approved to adopt, please submit the $100 deposit by clicking on our rescue's name in this posting (Forever Home Rescue New England--in purple) which will bring you to a new page with the deposit link at the bottom. STOP! If you have not been notified of your approval status do not make a deposit.
