Winston's Story

Meet Winston!

Winston, affectionately known as “Winny,” is a ten-year-old, twenty-pound gentle soul with an incredibly sweet and easygoing personality. He loves people, happily accepts pets and cuddles from just about everyone he meets, and has the kind of calm presence that immediately makes you want to sit down and stay awhile.

Winny has settled beautifully into foster life. He enjoys getting outside for walks, greeting new friends along the way, and taking plenty of time to stop and sniff everything that catches his attention. He’s definitely more of a leisurely stroller than a power walker, and he seems perfectly happy that way.

He’s potty trained, walks nicely on leash, and is currently learning a few basic commands like sit and paw. He’s also adjusting from having a backyard to doing all of his potty breaks on city walks and is getting the hang of his new routine with a little patience and encouragement.

Winston does wonderfully with other dogs and could be a great fit for a home with a canine companion. At home, he’s low-key and content to relax, cuddle with his people, or spend some quality time with his beloved monkey toy before settling in for a good nap.

Winny would thrive in a calm to moderately active home with someone who appreciates his gentle pace and will give him a little time to continue adjusting to city life. He’d do well in an apartment and is ready to bring a whole lot of sweetness, companionship, and very unhurried walks to his forever family.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
