Winston's Story

Winston is available (finally)!
Bio updated for clarity.
2 year old Winston.
Bulldog Mix weighing in at 56 LBS.
Winston has been in our care for about a month now and this is my thoughts on him.
Winston is an alpha male bulldog. He is smart, follows directions, and knows his basic commands. In the short time I've had him I have taught him that he eats in a kennel, and when the food comes out he knows to go to his kennel and wait for me.
He is also toy possessive. When he finds a toy he likes, he wants to keep it and can get possessive if you try to take it and he is not ready. It seems he can be around other dogs but I don't think the best scenario for him would be living with other dogs.
The other challenging thing about Winston is he is very anxious in the car, I cannot stress this enough.
The best home for Winston would be with people who are adults, and are free from small children or other dogs. I've put a lot of thought into this bio, and he just won't be adopted out to families with small children or other dogs in the home. I'm not trying to be rude, but I know this dog well and i'm not gonna cave. Is the only possible exception to this, is if there is one female dog of similar breed and similar size and the meeting between them goes off without any concerns.
He loves his walks and it definitely helps get his teenagerness energy in check.
He would live with a family who wouldn't need to take him many places in the car over his life....... What that means is he will not be adopted to a family that wants to take him to places in a car. We will not put an animal in jeopardy because people read our bio and think they know better. This dog is not good in the car for multiple reasons including medical, behavioral and extremely high anxiety. He had to be medicated to take him to the vet to be altered.
Per shelter notes prior to us taking him into our program.
He is friendly with other dogs and people.
His story:
His story is just like all the others, he was brought in as a "Stray," yet nobody saw him on the mean streets of Antioch. And you guessed it........ No one came to claim him.
If you are interested in Winston, please go to our website at Ebarr.org
Find infill out the application and return it to animalrescue@ebarr.org
Once approved we can set up a meet and greet for you to meet this amazingly smart bulldoggie. As with all bulldogs, we need to see proof insurance at adoption, you will most definitely think us later.
We want to be sure that nobody else fails him.
