WINSTON IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME <br/><br/>At just 1 year old, Winston is still learning how to be a puppy.<br/><br/>Somewhere along the way, we think life let him down.<br/><br/>Winston was reportedly found as a stray and ended up scared and overwhelmed in an overcrowded shelter. We may never know his full story, but what we do know breaks our hearts a little. This sweet boy came to us with very few social skills, delayed training, and uncertainty about the world around him. We truly believe Winston may have spent much of his early life overlooked, ignored, or confined never getting the love, guidance, and security every puppy deserves.<br/><br/>Nobody ever taught Winston how to be a dog.<br/><br/>Now he's learning, and every day he gets a little better.<br/><br/>Watching him discover joy has been one of the most rewarding things to witness.<br/><br/>Today, Winston runs full speed through the yard like he's making up for lost time. He leaps. He plays. He carries stuffed toys proudly. He chases balls. He lives for his frozen peanut butter Kong. He absolutely LOVES car rides and exploring new places. He walks like he could go forever and happily joins in everyday life like he's trying to soak up everything he missed.<br/><br/>Most of all?<br/><br/>Winston wants love.<br/><br/>Real love.<br/><br/>The kind where he can lay beside you after a long day. The kind where he gets pets, cuddles, and reassurance that he's finally safe. The kind where he becomes family.<br/><br/>He bonds deeply with his people and is protective of the home because once Winston loves you, he loves with his whole heart.<br/><br/>And this goofy little boy has plenty of personality too. His adorable underbite melts hearts instantly. He'll steal your shoes and hide them just to keep life interesting . He's incredibly smart, extremely treat motivated, eager to please, and learns quickly when given guidance and consistency.<br/><br/>Winston enjoys the company of other dogs and has done well with proper introductions. Because he missed out on some important socialization early in life, he's still learning canine manners, boundaries, and how to respectfully interact with other dogs.<br/><br/>For that reason, Winston may thrive as an only dog where he can continue building confidence while enjoying playdates with canine friends. He could also do well in a home with another dog, particularly a larger, confident dog, if the adopter is experienced and willing to provide guidance, structure, and continued training.<br/><br/>This isn't because Winston isn't friendly quite the opposite. He absolutely loves to play. Sometimes he just gets a little too excited and still needs help learning that not every dog wants to play puppy-style all day long.<br/><br/>As he continues to mature and learn, we expect his social skills to keep improving. Winston simply needs a family willing to help him become the best version of himself.<br/><br/>He loves children, but due to his rambunctious puppy energy, a home without very young children may be the best fit.<br/><br/>A secure fenced yard is a must for Winston. This happy boy loves to run, play, explore, and stretch those puppy legs.
