Winston's Story

Please read the info/bio in full prior to applying!

Meet Winston! He appears to be a mini goldendoodle. He is about 7 mos and 25lbs. His adoption fee is $795. He has age appropriate vaccines and has been vetted. Winston had been surrendered to animal control after he had been living chained to a fence. He had never seen a vet and his coat was a complete mess.
Lori of Molly N Me groomed him and he was very good for his first groom. He headed to foster with Elisabeth and family so we could learn more about him in order to find him the right home.
Winston is now crate and housetrained in the foster home. He loves the kids and is fine with the cat. Winston also lives with two other dogs currently. We feel he would do well in a home with children and maybe one other confident dog about his size. This boy has never been shown attention or affection so he has been a bit possessive of his people with the resident dogs. He wants all of the attention.
His foster mom is working on that and he will need an adopter willing to continue to work hard on socializing and building his confidence as we feel this behavior is due to a lack of confidence. On intake he did seem bit anxious which was expected due to his past. The key is not to encourage the anxious behavior. He has done well and is now less anxious in foster and continues to be more comfortable.
In a nutshell Winston is an adorable, smaller fella. We are looking for an experienced dog owner, someone willing to continue to socialize him outside of the home and help him build confidence. He had very limited exposure to anything prior to rescue so we need to work hard to try to catch him up on big world around him!
For consideration please tell us why you think you are a good fit for Winston in the “anything other than” section of the application. Please also tell us who you plan to use for a groomer as this boy will need not only routine brushing but regular professional grooming.

https://form.jotform.com/250175174725154

Palmetto Paws Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION THROUGH PALMETTO PAWS: *For each pet listed there is a bio with all details. Please take the time to read the bio in full as questions already answered in the bio will not be responded to. *Completion of the adoption application does not guarantee that you will receive an animal from us. There are many things that we take into consideration when reviewing applications. We reserve the right to deny any applicant. Our goal is to match the right animal with the right home. *We review applications in order received. We don't adopt on a first come, first serve basis. The decision is multifactorial and ultimately based on which applicant we feel is the best match for each pet listed. *Our pets live in private foster homes. We do not foster to adopt. *There is no opportunity to meet multiple listed pets. We meet one on one with approved adopters on Saturdays in Mt Pleasant. We do not host adoption events. If at the time of a meet, all parties agree we have a good match, then the pet goes home at that time. We are not able to "hold" a pet to be adopted at a later date. *We do not consider applications of those not able to meet/adopt on the upcoming Saturday. Please only apply when you are available and ready to adopt. *Adoption fees vary by listed pet and are disclosed in the bio. Applications are only considered for pups listed on Petfinder. We do not keep applications "on file" for a later date. *Most pets listed are mixed breed. We make no representation as to breed mix or potential adult size. ADOPTION APPLICATION If you are interested in meeting one of our pets, please read the bio in full prior to submitting an application which can be found on our home page. Incomplete applications are not considered. The question regarding heartworm disease must be answered in full. Heartworm disease is a 100% preventable yet potentially life threatening disease in dogs. We believe every applicant should be well educated regarding heartworm disease and how to prevent it. Please remember that PPAR is an all volunteer organization. We do our best to process applications in a timely manner. The number of pets in our care and the number of applications we receive may influence processing time. Due to the high volume of applications received on certain pets we may only be able to respond to the selected applicant. The minimum age to adopt is 25 years.
