WINNIE's Story
Hiya friends! My name is WINNIE and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Shephard/Lab Mix
Age: approx. 4 years
Gender: Female
Weight: 43.7 lbs (19.8 kg)
Height: 72 cm (paws to top of my head)
Length: 88 cm (head to butt)
Neck: 37 cm
Chest: 66 cm
Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY – I was rescued as just a puppy, along with my eight siblings, from a wooded area near Mexico City. We were found alone, thin, and malnourished - rescued just in time! Surely we would not have survived without intervention from our kind rescuers. While it took time to gain weight and grow, I was found otherwise healthy and without any serious health conditions.

Since then, I've spent about four years here at the shelter. Such a long time! All of my siblings have been adopted, but I'm still waiting for a forever home of my very own. Will that be with you?!

TEMPERAMENT - I'm a sweet and happy gal who adores human affection. As you can see in my photos, I'll gladly take alllll the pets - I'll even give you a hug! My Rescuer says that I'm not a morning doggie, I like to sleep in! While I'm not always super hungry in the morning, I'll jump at the chance for my favorite treat - sausages! I do not show any signs of resource guarding.

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - While I'm still a young adult with a love for play, I'm a pretty mellow girlie. I enjoy going for walks and playing with my fellow doggos, but know when it's my time to chill and appreciate a good nap! My Rescuer says that I'm calm around familiar and new people and get along well with dogs of all sizes.

My ideal home is one that balances daily walks and cozy naps - and of course, offers plenty of love and affection!

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Yes! Check out my video with an older kiddo. I haven't been tested with kids 8 years old.

Same with all dogs, I need to have an adult advocate for my space and make sure I'm supervised around children :)

Dogs – Yes! I have lots of dog pals at the shelter, and get along well with dogs of all sizes. Check out videos of me meeting new dogs here and here, and a video of me with my fellow shelter pups!
Cats – Not sure - I don't have any known experience around cats.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around new things in Canada like cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. While I love walks, I don't have frequent opportunities at the shelter. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Check out videos of me walking on a leash here and here.
House trained – Work in Progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn propper habits in my new home :)

HEALTH NOTES:

I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible.
