Because she wasn't socialized before arriving at the shelter, new people, places, and situations feel quite overwhelming to her right now. She is trying her absolute best to be brave, but she will require more time, patience, and effort than a typical puppy to help her adjust to the world.<br/><br/> Learning the Ropes: Windy has never walked on a leash before and needs a patient owner who will let her explore life gently and at her own pace.<br/><br/> Essential Training: Enrolling in puppy classes and working with a positive reinforcement trainer is highly recommended to build her confidence and ensure she grows up well-mannered, as her size will make her tricky to manage without guidance.<br/><br/> Looking for a Role Model: Having never met other dogs before, she would benefit greatly from a friendly, confident adult dog in the home to show her how to dog.<br/><br/>Canine meet-and-greets are required to make sure it's a good fit! If you are ready to give this big girl the patient guidance she deserves, come to the shelter to meet Windy today!<br/><br/>Ready to Adopt?<br/><br/>You have two options:<br/>#1- VISIT IN PERSON<br/>Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You'll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter.<br/>(Dogs in foster care are available to meet by appointment.)<br/><br/>#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** <br/>If you're ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you'd like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. <br/><br/>**Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.
