Willow's Story

Meet Willow!

Willow was rescued from an overcrowded municipal shelter in Houston, TX, where she was completely shutdown. The volunteer who met her knew she had the potential to be an amazing dog, so she offered to foster her to give her that chance.

Willow is a calm, sweet, low‑energy girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. She loves treats (and will happily steal the whole bag if you’re not paying attention), enjoys quiet companionship, and walks beautifully on leash. Passing cars on her walks can still make her nervous, but she’s making steady progress every day. She coexists well with other dogs and doesn’t mind them at all, though she prefers her space and a peaceful environment.

Once Willow feels comfortable, her affection comes out in the softest, most heart‑melting ways. She’ll wag her tail when she sees you, come over for pets, and immediately roll onto her back for belly rubs the moment you approach. She sticks close to her person throughout the day, quietly choosing to be near without being demanding. She’s potty trained and will walk to the back door when she needs to go out. She also does wonderfully in her crate and puts herself to bed at night.

Willow enjoys chewing on bones, working on her puzzle toys, and relaxing in calm spaces. She’s smart, easygoing, and incredibly tender‑hearted the kind of dog who brings a sense of peace to a home. She had a difficult start to life and is still building confidence, but with patience and consistency, she continues to blossom a little more each day.

Willow is estimated to be 4 years old and weighs around 65 lbs. She has just finished heartworm treatment and is ready to find her forever person/people. She’s looking for a patient, loving adopter who understands that some dogs need time to feel safe, but once she trusts you, she gives you her whole heart.

Willow is being fostered in Houston, Texas but is available for adoption many places across the country. The adoption fee ($600) includes the cost of transport. If you are seeing this post it means we have a transport location near you!

If you think Willow is your next best friend apply today:
https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog
