Willie and Winnie

Hello New Friends,<br/><br/>We’re Willie and Winnie (short for Winston but that’s a big name so I go by Winnie) and we are two sweet and shy three year old brothers who are learning to feel safe, secure, and loved. We’re Coton de Tulear pups (which means cotton in French) have the softest white hair (of course!), beautiful brown eyes and weigh 9 pounds (each). We are ‘diamonds in the rough’ who are making progress every day-- and working hard to live the life we were meant to live! <br/><br/>Our foster Mom and Dad say we are very smart! Did you know that we mastered the doggy door quickly and discovered, on the other side of it, there was a wonderful big yard to run in. We had never had a yard but in no time at all, we decided we simply loved it! The sun on our faces, the grass under our feet and all the wonderful plants and smells. Wow! Mom says watching us play “Chase” is seeing pure joy—two fluffy white blurs racing around with our tails wagging. <br/><br/>When playtime is done, we both love “Couch & Cuddle” time. Back scratches, tummy rubs, and quiet snuggles are some of our favorite things. Since we’re both smart, treats are a great motivator for us! While Willie is soulful, sweet, and a little more reserved, he will take treats gently our of mom’s hand. I, Winnie, am more curious, equally smart, but slightly more brave. (In other words I don’t scare as quickly!) Dad says we balance each other beautifully, always staying close together and taking comfort in each other’s company. <br/><br/>We haven’t had much exposure to other animals, children, or visitors, as we’re still quite shy. Loud noises and new situations can be scary for us, but every single day we’re making progress. Mom says it’s heartwarming to see us come out of our shells—as bit by bit, we’re learning that people are kind and gentle. We’ll need patient adopters who understand that our love will show itself slowly, in little moments of trust, and that those milestones are worth celebrating. <br/><br/>We’re crate-trained, use the dog door, and are working on being comfortable with those things called harnesses and leashes. Soon we hope to feel confident enough to explore the big wide world. And while we may not be ready to jump into your arms on Day One, with patience, love, consistency, and kindness, we’ll blossom into loving companions who will be devoted to you forever. <br/><br/>Our ideal home should include: <br/>- A person or couple with love and patience who can take the time to build our trust <br/><br/>- A calm environment where we can continue to feel safe, explore our environment and make progress each day <br/>- No other pets—just the two of us<br/><br/>Experience Level:<br/>- No first-time adopters – savvy and patient dog people who understand shy dogs<br/><br/>While our life before we became FurKids was rocky and rough, our hearts are open and hopeful. If you’re looking for two darling little guys who will bring joy to your life, entertain you with both zoomies and quiet, tender moments, we might be your perfect match. If we sound like your kind of pups, please ask for us.
