Willard's Story

Willard is a shy but sweet shepherd with a gentle heart and a calm demeanor. He may take some time to warm up to new people and environments, but once he feels safe, he shows his loyal and affectionate side.

Willard enjoys quiet spaces where he can observe at his own pace, gentle walks, and calm companionship. He thrives in a patient, understanding home that allows him to build confidence gradually. He has met a few other dogs at the shelter and was polite, but prefers to keep to himself rather than engage in play so far. He has not met any cats yet.

With time, consistency, and positive experiences, Willard will blossom into a devoted companion who will reward his family with loyalty and love. He would do best in a calm, structured environment where his shy nature is respected and nurtured.

Volunteer perspective: I love this gentle man. It’s been so rewarding to watch his progress. Willard is still shy, but is starting to play with us in the yard. He’ll let me scratch under his chin and when I stop, he steps closer for more. At just over 40 pounds, he could be perfect for a shepherd lover who wants a smaller version of their favorite breed.
