HSNT’s mission is to act as an advocate on behalf of all animals and to ensure their legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection; to provide for the well-being of animals who are abandoned, injured, neglected, mistreated or otherwise in need; to promote an appreciation of animals; and to instill respect for all living things.
Please be aware that all potential adopters will need to meet the following requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
Have current identification showing your current address (if the address on your license is outdated, please bring a utility bill with your current address)
Please note: HSNT strives to spay or neuter all pets before they enter our adoption program. However, in the event you select a pet that has not been altered, you will need to leave the pet at the shelter for a few days until they can be fixed.
Adoption Services & Fees
The adoption fees at the Humane Society of North Texas range from $15 to $325 for pets and up to $2,500 for equine.
Adoption fees are determined based on a variety of factors such as age, size, length of stay, and public demand. We do our best to ensure our adoption fees are reasonable and affordable to the general public. That is why we set fees well below the actual cost of your pets' care during their stay. The adoption fees help HSNT to cover a portion of the cost of your pet's medical care, food, and housing during their stay with us.
Each pet adopted from HSNT is:
Spayed or neutered
Up to date on vaccinations
Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months old)
Every pet adoption also comes with:
A free vet exam
A cardboard carrier or slip-lead leash
30 days of free pet insurance
A free week of virtual training through Good Pup
