Wilfred Mixed Breed Canal Winchester, OH

Wilfred is the goodest of boys. Clearly, he was someone's beloved dog at some point but was never reclaimed when he arrived as a stray at one of Gigi's shelter partners. This boy loves to hang with his people and settles quickly indoors when his family is present. Wilfred walks nicely on leash and quickly focuses on his person when asked. He gives gentle hugs and takes treats delicately from your hand.
Wilfred tends to be selective about his doggie friends. He will likely do best as an only dog. We recommend slow intros with new dogs to be safe and let dogs choose their play partners and housemates. Wilfred is currently working on being left alone and is doing great in his foster home on being able to settle in a crate for short periods of time. While he undergoes this training, he'd be best suited living with a family that can be home with him or have him be able to join them when they leave the house while he continues to increase his periods of time alone.
Wilfred is currently heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment here at Gigi's. He'll finish up his treatment at the beginning of April. Don't let this worry you, dogs are able to enjoy everyday things with some activity restrictions in place during treatment and for a short time after treatment, and go on to live normal, happy lives.
