Weston's Story

A NICE YOUNG FELLOW: Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 26 lbs.

Hi, I'm Weston! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am enjoying my time with the nice volunteers, who spend time with and take great care of me. I was selected to participate in the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience and learned a lot! Now I'm in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my new family to come and adopt me!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met dogs in the off-site training program where I learned to play. I made a friend with a more mellow dog there and now I like to run around with and play tug games with the 6-year-old female dog in my foster home. I try to play with the older dog too, but he's not playful and I respect that. If you have a dog at home already, let's meet! / I saw a cat at PetSmart on a day trip and I ignored them. I am curious about the cats in my foster home and chase if they run, but I leave them alone if they don't react. All cats are different so I'm not sure how I would be with another cat. / I like the 15- and 17-year-olds in my foster home, with just an initial growl when we first met and then quickly warmed up, so let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers report that I'm a sweet, friendly boy who loves people and enjoys being close for cuddles. I'm gentle, calm, and have a darling handsome face that's easy to love. I was very brave for my bath—even though the bathtub and sprayer were a little confusing at first, I found comfort leaning against the tub and sat patiently through most of it. I also did well for my ear cleaning, showing what a trusting and loving companion I am. When entering the off-site training program, I was timid around the new people at first and it took me a couple of days to eat, so there may be a little settling in time needed when I'm adopted. I've adjusted nicely to my foster home now. My foster says I am a "very sweet, loving, curious and fearless" boy who plays hard when it's time for fun and stays calm when it's quiet time. Great combination, right?!? / Energy level: 4-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience, so, I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. Let's continue my training as there are more classes I can take through the free lifetime training that Mostly Mutts offers for their rescue dogs. / I'm doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and am doing well out of it, day and night in the off-site training program as well as in my foster home. / I'm doing well with my potty manners on the shelter schedule and in my foster home, with just an occasional accident if we get off-schedule, so please help me stay on a consistent schedule for continued potty success.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy spending time with people, attention, playing with my dog foster sibling and going for walks! I recently had a wonderful day out with a kind volunteer, visiting Home Depot, PetSmart, and enjoying a delicious pup cup. I was on my best behavior and enjoyed the outing. I also like giving sweet hugs of gratitude to the nice volunteers, and I'm sure once I'm in my new home, we'll discover lots more things to enjoy together. / I don't like to spend too much time alone and may whine a bit. I reacted poorly to a walking cane, so best no family members with canes, and like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on my annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I'm a fun fellow looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.
