****We are Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S) – Stephenville, TX - We are a small, foster based animal rescue, 501(c)3 non-profit organization, based out of Stephenville, TX. We work to rehabilitate and rehome unwanted cats and dogs in Stephenville and surrounding towns. We have recently expanded our scope to include Hamilton County, TX and are currently working with the City of Hamilton and the Hico Police Department to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound or the Hico Animal Shelter.<br/>Pets Are Worth Saving (P.A.W.S.)’s mission is to sponsor low cost spay/neuter and wellness exams, provide community education and provide food and supplies to those in need. We also do our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected, or abused animals. Our animals are vaccinated and on preventatives. Perhaps, Wesley is the dog for you?<br/><br/>Meet WESLEY!!<br/><br/>Wesley is 6 years old, ~60 lbs., neutered male, Black Mouth Cur/Pit mix<br/><br/>Poor Wesley has had a rough start but is looking forward to a new beginning. This one breaks our hearts. Wesley came from a very extreme situation where he was abandoned on a property in a makeshift junk kennel. He was adopted by what we thought was the perfect family last March. Even with very clear warnings that he cannot be around livestock or other small animals, they didn’t listen, he killed a goat and was returned to us. <br/><br/>Wesley absolutely adores people, especially children. He is fully house trained, and crate trained, does pretty well on leash, but may pull at times, and is the sweetest boy as long as he is not around livestock and such. Sadly, before he was adopted, Wesley was in boarding for a very long time and we had no other option, but to put him back in boarding<br/><br/>We don't know his entire past, but we know he has an extremely high prey drive. Wesley cannot be in a home that has or is near livestock, other small animals, or cats. He does okay with some dogs but, is dog selective and will need proper introduction. He might do best as an only pet.<br/><br/>Wesley is fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and on preventatives for fleas/ticks/heartworms.<br/><br/>Wesley is a wonderful dog who deserves an amazing home and family. He just needs people who are going to be patient with him and understand that because of his past, there are just some things he can’t handle.
