Wendy's Story
IMPORTANT - HOW TO APPLY: If you're interested in meeting Wendy, you need to first submit an application on our website: winonahumane.org/adopt. Our Canine Director will then contact you to set up a time to visit (our building is operating with scheduled visits). Email with any questions about Wendy or her adoption process!

Personality description:
Wendy’s story is one of perseverance, trauma, healing, and hope. Now, she awaits an adopter who holds the final puzzle piece: a lifetime of happiness.

While we don’t know the full truth of Wendy’s past, the most stable environment she’s experienced has been here at the shelter – a heartbreaking fact, but we’re thankful to be her safe place to land and source of true care.

Right before coming to WAHS, Wendy had been severely attacked by a larger dog, purchased through an online sales site, introduced to a new home and pets, and then removed from that home – all within 48 hours. She experienced a great deal of physical & emotional trauma, yet once her painful wounds were finally tended to, she showed her kind heart and joyful disposition.

Wendy’s top loves include food, attention, walks, and squeaky toys. She’s fully potty-trained, working on her leash manners, and is on a feeding program to return to a healthy weight.

Wendy seems fine around cats and gets along with male dogs; she hasn’t met female dogs while in our care. She interacts with men just fine at WAHS and at the vet’s office, but she’s experienced some difficulty while in a home setting (this may be due to her past, or other unknown factors).

Overall, Wendy’s a relaxed, chill couch potato and she deserves nothing but the best for all her years. Please fill out the form on winonahumane.org/adopt to see if you’re the person Wendy’s been waiting to meet.

Additional bio info: female, possible Pocket Pit/American Bully/French Bulldog mix, approximately 3 years old and 68lbs (on a weight loss plan), up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed
