Wasabi 's Story

**Rose nicknamed Wasabi – Social, Affectionate & Great in Public**

Meet Rose. She’s about a year old, fluffy, bright-eyed, and full of personality—but you wouldn’t have known that when she was first found.

Rose came from a shelter that shut down, and at the time, she was so overwhelmed that she completely shut down. She was placed on the euthanasia list simply because she was too scared to show who she really was. But the moment she got out and into a foster home, everything changed—and it changed *fast*.

Within days, she began to open up. And what came out was not a fearful dog, but a happy, affectionate, slightly silly girl who just needed a safe place to land.

Now, she’s a total social butterfly. She prances through the house like she’s putting on a little show, tail wagging, checking in, making sure she’s included in whatever you’re doing. She has this joyful, charming way of pawing for attention and trying to climb into your lap like she belongs there (because, in her mind, she absolutely does).

Rose loves people—deeply. She wants to be near you, sleep next to you, follow you from room to room, and just be part of your day. She’s one of those dogs who doesn’t just live in your home—she becomes part of your rhythm.

She’s also wonderfully social with other dogs. She’s polite, gentle, and reads the room well, never pushy or overwhelming. She seems to really enjoy having dog friends around and settles beautifully into a group.

Rose has also been great with cats. She is very gentle, curious, and respectful—often approaching slowly and cautiously. She tends to give them space, taking her time to observe rather than rushing in,

Out in the world, Rose is surprisingly confident. She does great in crowds, enjoys walks, and loves car rides—happily watching the world go by like she’s been doing it her whole life. She may start off a little excited on leash, but quickly settles in, especially when she’s walking alongside her person.

She’s still young and learning, of course. Loud noises or new things (like stairs) can startle her at first, but she recovers quickly and looks to you for reassurance. It’s actually one of her sweetest qualities—she wants to feel safe *with you*.

What makes Rose so special is how much she changed once she was given a chance. She didn’t just “improve”—she *blossomed*. And now, she’s ready for a home where she never has to feel scared or overlooked again.

She’s not the dog she was in the shelter—she’s so much more than that.

Please fill out an application to meet her!
https://www.welcomehomesanctuary.org/adoption-application
