Wanda the Wonder Canaan Dog & German Shepherd Dog Mix Somerset, NJ

Wanda's warm and affectionate nature is a shining example of her remarkable resilience, which has earned her the nickname "our little wonder dog." Wanda and Vision, a pair of tiny, sick puppies we rescued in May, faced a dire situation – their delicate bodies were infested with ticks and plagued by fleas.

Tragically, Vision passed away just days after their rescue. While our hearts were heavy with grief, our determination to protect Wanda remained steadfast. She spent several weeks at the clinic, receiving treatment for her anemia. Afterward, she found solace in one of the most loving foster homes we could have hoped for, where she learned what it's like to live in a real home and be part of a family, complete with young children.

Wanda's journey to recovery was truly inspiring, and her health improved day by day. However, fate had one more challenges in store for her when she woke up one day with a small gray spot in one of her eyes. Once again, we embarked on a rollercoaster of consultations with veterinarians to determine the cause and the necessary treatment to preserve her vision. Thankfully, Wanda's eyesight has been fully restored.

Today, Wanda revels in affection. She adores hugs, shares kisses generously, and readily surrenders herself for belly rubs. Treats are a source of joy, and she diligently practices her tricks every day. She behaves beautifully on walks with her foster family's dogs and equally enjoys playing with both dogs and cats.

Wanda's journey embodies the power of love and resilience, and she's ready to bring her boundless affection and happiness into a forever home.
