Wanda - LOCAL's Story

Meet Wanda --our beloved "little miss wiggle butt" 💕

Wanda's story could have ended far too soon. After spending over 180 days in a crowded shelter in GA, she was heartbreakingly placed on the euthanasia list due to space, her age, and length of stay. Thankfully, a compassionate rescue volunteer saw the treasure she is and refused to let her story end there. Now safe and thriving in a foster home in New England, Wanda is proving every single day what an exceptional companion she is. She is full of life and love and personality and she's ready to bring joy to her forever home.

This friendly girl absolutely lights up when her people are around. Whether you've just walked through the door or simply stepped out of the room, Wanda greets you with her signature full body wiggle. She enjoys the simple pleasures: playing with toys, relaxing in a fenced yard, going for walks and snuggling up with her person. She also is happy to hop in the car and to go for a ride.

Wanda is looking for a patient and understanding family who can give her time to settle in and learn new routines and learn to just adjust to being part of a household. She is house trained and doing well, she will try to counter surf is something smells tasty but when you correct her she stops. She is working on her manners and learning her name and basic commands. She is smart and eager to please, and since she's very food motivated, training should continue to go smoothly.

Wanda has not lived with dogs that we know of, but with slow introductions and patience we feel it could work for her. She would also be very happy to have the house and the family all to herself too. She is a curious girl who loves to know what's going on especially with other dogs when on walks. She has meet dogs on walks and made friends. She will pull a bit on leash so the more training and walks the better she will become.

Wanda will thrive in a home that can offer her structure, patience and lots of love.
