Walter's Story

Walter spent at least two weeks in a ditch on the side of Cline Avenue. He had old wounds and was said to have been hit by a car. Luckily, a good Samaritan gained his trust. We had an open kennel and were grateful to offer it to Walter. Our staff picked over 30 ticks off him. He was starving. But...

Once he understood he was safe with us, Walter showed us that despite his time living on his own and not being loved, he still knew how to love and he is now thriving in relationships with our staff and volunteers. He is affectionate, interactive, so very intelligent and he loves to be near people.

Walter came to us weighing 39 pounds when he should weigh at least 50 pounds. He was fighting a bit of an infection but we have him on medicine, and he is doing quite wonderfully, all things considered!

Walter deserves a family who will show him how special he is. He'd love to be with someone who loves exercise but also enjoys relaxing. He loves car rides. In fact, he tries to curl up as close as possible to anyone in the car!

We wanted to allow him to feel a little bit better before introducing him to other furry friends. What we have observed so far is that he has playful body language so he may be able to be introduced to dog friends. Once we know more about dogs, cats and kiddos, we will let you know! Kiddos should probably be about 8ish and older.

He is about two years old and is neutered. He currently weighs a little over 40 pounds and will need to gain weight at a healthy rate to feel his best! Are you who Walter has been hoping and waiting for?
