Walter's Story

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide.

Walter is a “13-ish” year-old Yorkie Cairn mix who somehow ended up at an intake shelter and was running short on time. We’ve got a soft spot for senior guys like him, so of course we scooped him up.

His age is honestly just our best guess—he could be 11, he could be 16. Only Walter knows, and he’s not telling. What we do know is that he’s a little scruffy, a lot sweet, and probably can’t see perfectly—but don’t tell him that. He gets around just fine and prefers to take life at a slow, snack-based pace. Walter moves at one speed: leisurely. If there were medals for slow strolls and extra-long naps, he’d have a full trophy case.

Walter has really taken to his foster dad—he’s a loyal little shadow who follows him from room to room and even “chats” with him when he wants something, using the softest little whimper to make his requests known.

He’s good with other calm dogs, fine with cats, and would probably be okay with gentle, respectful kids. Mostly, he’s just a sweet, quiet little dude looking for someone to hang out with and spoil him for the rest of his golden years.

If you’ve ever wanted a low-maintenance roommate who naps 90% of the day and doesn’t judge your TV choices, Walter’s your guy.
