Walter's Story

Walter is guessed to be maybe 12 months old. He's an energetic, strong, happy and goofy pup.
He was found on the street with no proof of responsible ownership & appeared to have been running for some time (torn paw pads, legs scanned, scabs on his face, and nails worn down to bloody little tips).
He is learning to walk nicely on a leash (he does better with a harness with a front clip), is crate trained (a small treat helps him go in willingly) and has not had any accidents in the crate in over a month.
He's not terribly treat motivated, but is smart and craves your attention.
Walter does have some separation anxiety. When he can't see you, crying, barking, and howling ensue. He is not destructive & does not try to escape the crate; he just wants to be near or to see his people.

He has met a couple large and small dogs with slow introduction and has done well with them.
On-leash; he is intensely curious and does try to get to any dog he sees.
Walter allows all type of handling. You can take the food out of his mouth and a toy too! However; everything is a game and he doesn't want to give up his toys.
He is 'snorty' and sometimes barks but he hasn't shown any level of aggression.

He appears to have too much curiosity on cats.
He can also jump over a 5 1/2 foot wall with ease.

His body wiggles with happiness and excitement when let out of his crate or called for. He is healing from 'happy tail.'
He has encountered some smaller (6/7yr old) children on our walks and is very friendly but also doesn't realize his size and may be a little too exuberant for small children.
He does not like loud motorcycles or electric bikes and scooters. They make him nervous but telling him to sit and stay does help keep him calmer and focused.

He sleeps well in his crate and even if he wakes up, he's pretty quiet-as long as he knows you're there.
He enjoys structure, walks, playing with toys and just being near people.

This guy is like an overly exuberant Walmart greeter and will keep you laughing and keep you active!

He is currently in foster care, but you can fill out an adoption application to set up a meet and greet! We promise you won't be disappointed!
