Meet Wallace! This handsome guy is going to make someone very happy! Wallace is a relatively calm dog but will always be excited and happy to see you when you come home. He loves hanging out at home with his family but is always up for a hike or play time.<br/><br/>Wallace is affectionate with his humans, but he may need you to give him space initially and let him tell you when he is ready for affection. If you do that, it seems that he will feel “heard” and will seek you out for affection. He does bark when he sees people outside the home, but not excessively, and will happily greet your guests.<br/><br/>Wallace currently has a dog door to a fenced yard, which he absolutely loves. This might be the best setup for him. On walks, he does well but would prefer to be allowed to sniff everything. So if you’re in a hurry, trying to get your steps in, Wallace may not be the best fit for you. He can be reactive at times toward other dogs while on a walk.<br/><br/>When it comes to canine buddies, Wallace is selective. With a proper introduction, he does well with some dogs, whereas other dogs he will not tolerate. So he would probably be happiest as an only dog but may be able to have a few dog buddies if you take the time for a slow intro (e.g., a few walks together). Wallace has not lived with cats as far as we know, though he does not appear to have very high prey drive when he sees squirrels and bunnies outside. <br/><br/>Wallace likes to be given a little space when he is lying in a comfy bed or enjoying his food, a toy, or a bone. He has been known to growl or show his teeth in this context but has never bitten anyone. Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend that he go to a home with no kids younger than teens.<br/><br/>This sweetie is about 10 years old, neutered, and has no known health issues. He weighs about 50-60 lbs and is thought to be a golden retriever mix. He will be brought up to date on vaccinations prior to adoption. He is housetrained and does just fine without being crated.<br/><br/>Wallace’s family is moving overseas and can’t take him with them.
